Auto-Debagger

Uses Dyco's Patented Slit & Strip Process

Overview

Dyco Auto-Debaggers automatically load a bag of packaged containers from stacks of bundles placed by an operator. Once the bundles are loaded the bag is automatically removed, utilizing a patented process developed by Dyco, containers are then indexed onto a take away conveyor in a single file.

Operation

Stacks of Bundles are placed in the pick-up location by an operator, typically 9 bundles high in 2 stacks.

From this position a precision stepper motor driven de-stacker picks up the bundles, rotates or indexes linearly, and places the bundle into the Auto-Debagger. Once the bundle is loaded, bundle-aligning mechanisms rotate in from the sides to center the bundle with the stripping chamber. The bundle is then pushed into the stripping chamber, the top center of the bundle is slit by an overhead mounted stationary hot knife. The necks of the bundles are separated by guide rails as the bundle is pushed into the chamber.

Once the bundle is in the stripping chamber, with the center two rows of containers now separated, a hot knife travels straight down between the center of the bundle, cutting the bag in half. With the bag cut through in the center the patented stripping cycle begins.

The stripping cycle is performed by a pair of gripper rollers on each side of the bundle. The rollers extend in against the bundle and close. The rollers then rotate, rolling the film up inside the roller and providing a tight hold on the two halves of the bag. Once the grippers have rolled up the bag, the mechanism retracts and travels down stripping the bag from the bundle. The bag, now removed from the containers is ejected by the rollers rotating in reverse and the assistance of an air jet. The scrap bags are accumulated in a scrap bin for removal, once the bin is full.

The next bagged bundle being indexed into the strip chamber pushes the now stripped bundle onto an accumulation mat top conveyor. The containers travel down the mat top conveyor to the indexing feed end of the machine. The indexer works in conjunction with a ?hold down? mechanism that holds the previous row of containers back, while the containers are indexed with a side mounted wiper mechanism. The wiper mechanism is driven with a variable frequency drive controlled motor and accelerates the containers onto the exit conveyor, which carries the containers single file, typically onto accumulation conveyor to a filler.

Features & Benefits

  • Operator touch screen control with alarms and machine diagnostics
  • High speed side indexer that accelerates containers onto AC variable speed driven conveyor (optional additional table top conveyor available upon request)
  • Bag is automatically cut open and stripped off bundle. (Utilizing a Dyco Patented Process)
  • 48” wide live mat top accumulation table
  • Large scrap plastic bin with scrap pusher
  • Container hold down and pressure release mechanisms on discharge end of machine to ensure container orientation is maintained and prevent jams
  • Once bundle stacks are in place machine automatically destacks two full stacks of bundles with little or no operator interaction
  • Stack light to alert operators of machine status
