The most expensive bottle you can manufacture is the one that costs your company a customer. Unfortunately, if you can only depend on “hands-on” inspection to catch every problem container,it’s almost a certainty that many bottles will be delivered that you would never have wanted to leave your plant.
Vision, Dyco’s automatic inspection system for blow molded containers, applies high speed digital cameras to image each container for one or multiple quality issues, then automatically ejects from the line any bottle not conforming. Vision provides exceptional application flexibility, images diverse types of quality issues, inspects anytime bottles are being manufactured and can be pre-programmed to provide for a quick changeover for inspection of different containers in a single unit.
Every Vision system is customer-defined, with each finished unit incorporating the number of imaging stations required for the requested inspections. Quality issues most commonly inspected include neck ovality, thread diameter, handle slug, imperfections, deformation, and bottom, neck or part line flash. A variety of label inspections can be concurrently made, including the absence of a label, skew or positioning, wrinkles, holes, correct label or UPC code. Detectable variation from norm can be estimated when the unit is configured.
Three elements are key to the consistent inspection provided by Dyco’s Vision system: the precise positioning of containers at each inspection station; high speed digital cameras with controlled lighting; and automatic, pixel-level evaluation of images coordinated with a failed container ejection system. These functions are monitored through a complete operation control system that includes a PLC and Operator Touch Pad. An optional image viewing screen can assist in visual evaluations when identifying or verifying quality issues.
